Happy Christmas (War is Over)

"Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" is a Christmas song by John Lennon, Yoko Ono and the Plastic Ono Band. It was recorded in New York City in October 1971. The children singing in the background were from the Harlem Community Choir. The lyrics were written by Lennon and Ono, while the melody and chord structure were taken from the folk standard known as "Stewball".

Although the song is a protest song about the Vietnam War, it has become a Christmas standard and has appeared on several Christmas albums. Images of this video may offend the sensibilities.

The Christmas cracker quiz

Christmas crackers are an integral part of Christmas celebrations in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa, as well as the United States of America. They are also popular in Ireland. The cracker is pulled by two people and it splits. The split is accompanied by a small bang. Crackers are typically pulled at the Christmas dinner table.
